1.25T Tracked Carrier
Hire in Melbourne
Our 20T, 25T & 40T Franna Cranes
A 1.25 tonne tracked carrier moves up to 1,250 kg of material across sites in Melbourne, Geelong, Bacchus Marsh, and Western Victoria on rubber tracks, through openings around 750 mm wide, and under remote control. It replaces a job that might otherwise require four people, a trolley, and most of a morning.
The Size That Solves
Most Access Problems
Ask anyone who hires these machines regularly, and they will tell you the same thing. The 1.25 tonne class handles the majority of tight access transport work, because the loads that actually need moving on those sites are rarely heavier than this. Glass units, stone benchtops, air conditioning condensers, switchboards, pallets of pavers, and site materials all sit comfortably inside 1,250 kg. What stops them is never the weight. It is the side gate, the flight of steps, the corridor, or the lawn that cannot take a wheeled machine.
The carrier handles all four. Tracks climb gradients and steps that defeat a pallet jack, spread the load so finished surfaces survive, and the remote control lets the operator walk beside the machine, watching clearances instead of sitting on it hoping. There is a safety argument too. Manual handling injuries are among the most common on Australian construction sites, and moving a 300 kg panel by hand down a side path is exactly the task that causes them. Tell us the load, the distance and the narrowest point on the route.
What This Machine Does Well
Five things make the 1.25 tonne size the most requested carrier in the range:
Single doorway access. Narrow enough to pass through standard door openings, side gates and corridors without dismantling anything.
Zero-emission operation. Battery electric with no exhaust, so it runs inside occupied buildings, basements and enclosed spaces without ventilation concerns.
Handles gradients and steps. Tracks climb ramps, slopes and step arrangements that stop trolleys, pallet jacks and wheeled barrows completely.
Remote-controlled positioning. The operator walks alongside, watching clearances rather than riding the machine, which matters in confined spaces.
Surface friendly. Low ground pressure across rubber tracks protects lawns, pavers, timber decking, tiled floors and suspended slabs.

Where the 1.25T Carrier Gets Used
Glass and Glazing Delivery
Glass units, shopfront panels and balustrade sections moved from the truck to the installation point without a crew carrying them.
Stone, Tile and Benchtops
Stone slabs, benchtops, large format tiles and pavers transported into kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor areas through finished spaces.
Mechanical and Electrical Plant
Condensers, switchgear, pumps, hot water units and services equipment moved into plant rooms, basements and rooftop access points.
Landscaping and Rear Yards
Soil, turf, retaining blocks, pots and plants carried through side gates into backyards where no wheeled machine fits.
Fit Out and Refurbishment
Joinery, fixtures, flooring and materials transported through occupied buildings, corridors and lift lobbies with no exhaust or noise issue.
Strip Out and Waste Removal
Debris, old fixtures and salvaged material carried out of buildings where skips cannot be positioned near the work.

Included With the Hire
Six things covered when you book this machine:
Route assessment first. Door widths, gradients, steps, corners, surfaces and floor loadings confirmed before the machine is committed.
Operator or full induction. Wet hire with a trained operator, or machine familiarisation and handover where your crew will run it.
Charged and ready on delivery. Battery fully charged on arrival, with charging requirements confirmed against your available site power.
Surface protection available. Track mats, ply and matting where finished floors, decking or lawn need covering.
Correct body configuration. Flat deck, tipping body or extendable frame selected for what is actually being moved.
Float transport arranged. Delivery, positioning at the start of the route, and collection built into the quote.

Six things covered when you book this machine:
Every Lift Meets Safety Standard
What is a 1.25T tracked carrier used for?
Moving loads up to 1,250 kg across sites where access rules out wheeled equipment. Common uses are glass and stone delivery, mechanical plant transport into buildings, landscaping materials into rear yards, and fit-out materials through occupied premises.
How much can a 1.25 tonne tracked carrier actually carry?
1,250 kg on level ground. Safe working load reduces on gradients and uneven surfaces, so the figure that applies to your job depends on the route. We confirm it against your actual conditions before quoting.
How wide is a 1.25T tracked carrier?
Narrow enough to pass through a standard single doorway, which is the main reason this size is so widely hired. Send us the tightest point on your access route with a photo, and we will confirm clearance before delivery.
Can it be used indoors?
Yes. It is battery electric with no exhaust emissions and low noise, which makes it suitable for occupied buildings, basements, hospitals, retail spaces and enclosed areas. Floor loading and headroom still need checking.
Can a tracked carrier go up steps or slopes?
Yes, within its rated gradient. Tracks handle ramps, slopes and step arrangements that stop trolleys and pallet jacks, though capacity reduces as the gradient increases and we assess the route before confirming.
Will it damage floors, decking or lawn?
Rubber tracks spread weight far better than wheels, and we supply matting and spreader plates for finished or delicate surfaces. Suspended slabs are checked against engineering limits first.
Do you offer dry hire?
Wet hire with an operator is the standard arrangement. Dry hire can be arranged where your crew is competent on the machine, subject to induction and site requirements.
Do I need a tracked carrier or a mini crawler crane?
A carrier moves loads horizontally to the work area. A crane lifts them into position. If your job needs the load carried in and then lifted, you need both, and we supply them on the one booking.
What does 1.25t tracked carrier hire cost in Melbourne?
Daily and weekly rates apply, with weekly hire working out considerably better on longer programs. Float transport from our Maddingley depot is quoted separately. Call 0457 000 637 for a figure against your job.
Which areas do you cover?
All Melbourne metro suburbs, with Maidstone, Werribee and Caroline Springs among the areas we attend most often, extending through Geelong, Bacchus Marsh, Melton and Ballarat. Regional work is arranged on request.

The carrier travels on a float from our depot at 25 Rowsley Station Rd, Maddingley VIC 3340, directly on the Western Freeway. These machines usually stay for a work package rather than a single day, so transport applies once, and the unit remains on site for the duration.
