If you’re building a new house or upgrading your backyard, getting a pool installed is usually the highlight of the project. Sometimes, using a Bacchus Marsh crane is the best way to actually get a massive fiberglass shell off a truck and into the ground. That’s where the heavy lifting comes in. A Bacchus Marsh crane often makes the difference.
We recently headed out to a residential site in Bacchus Marsh to tackle exactly this. The ground was freshly turned dirt, the site was busy with trades, and we had a brand-new, bright blue pool shell ready to find its permanent home. When you need to lift something this large, a Bacchus Marsh crane can provide the solution.
To get the job done right, we brought in the Franna.
Why a Pick-and-Carry Crane?
When you look at the site photos, you’ll notice we aren’t using a massive slew crane with wide outriggers. For backyard jobs in growing estates around Bacchus Marsh, space and access dictate what machinery you can bring in. Therefore, many local jobs benefit from the use of a Bacchus Marsh crane.
Here is why the Franna was the right tool for this specific lift:
- Mobility on site: Frannas are pick-and-carry cranes. This means we can hook up the pool shell out the front, lift it, and actually drive it down the side of the property.
- Small footprint: Because it doesn’t need to deploy large stabilising legs, we can operate in tighter lanes between fence lines and new builds.
- Handling the terrain: The ground out the back was uneven and muddy from the excavation. The Franna handled the rough terrain without a worry, getting right up to the edge of the dig.
Precision is Everything
Lifting a pool isn’t just about raw power; it’s about control. A fiberglass shell is large, awkward, and expensive. It has to go into the hole perfectly straight and completely level. This is so the plumbing and backfilling can happen without a hitch.
Our crane operator and the dogman on the ground worked as a tight unit. You can see the dogman guiding the load via the taglines. He makes sure the shell didn’t swing or catch the wind. We brought it over the dirt piles and lowered it in millimetre by millimetre.
Getting Ready for Summer
It’s always a good feeling to see a pool touch down safely. Bacchus Marsh is seeing a lot of new homes going up. Backyard access can sometimes be a headache for homeowners trying to plan their landscaping. This lift proved again that when dealing with big loads, choosing a Bacchus Marsh crane ensures a safe and efficient process.
The heavy lifting is out of the way for these homeowners, leaving the rest to the landscapers and pool builders.
If you are planning a pool installation, a spa delivery, or need any heavy materials lifted into a residential site, give our dispatch team a call. We’ll come out and check your site access. Next, we figure out exactly which crane will get the job done safely. For many local projects, a Bacchus Marsh crane may be exactly what you need.
