Franna Cranes and Window Handling

Franna cranes, the pick-and-carry crane specialist, are often used for lifting and carefully positioning large windows. Their compact size and mobility make them suitable for navigating confined construction sites and moving loads horizontally without needing outriggers, which are stabilizing legs found on other types of cranes.

When installing large, heavy, or high-rise windows, a Franna crane can be the ideal solution. Instead of relying on manual labour, which can be dangerous and inefficient for large glass panels, a crane can lift the window and position it precisely. The crane’s hydraulic system allows for smooth and controlled movements, which is critical for handling fragile materials like glass. The crane operator works in tandem with a team on the ground to guide the window into its correct position.

As can be seen in the blog image, the Crane2U team recently assisted with the unloading and installation of some large heavy windows. To grip the windows we use a high load capacity glass suction cup lifter (the yellow spider looking contraption in the image) ensuring these glass panels won’t slip or fall.
